Understanding your compliance tasks

FOUNDRS tracks your Companies House and HMRC deadlines and turns them into tasks, with the most urgent first. Tasks are based on your company's details, so you only see what's relevant to you.

What tasks you'll see

Select TASKS then Compliance Assistant in the menu to see your tasks. Use the filters at the top to show all of them, or just one type: Legal obligation, Compliance or Recommended. Tasks you've completed are kept in History.

Your tasks can include:

  • Filing your confirmation statement
  • Filing your annual accounts
  • Corporation Tax deadlines
  • Checking your registered office address is correct
  • Getting your Companies House authentication code

Other obligations, such as VAT, PAYE or reporting changes to directors, depend on your company's circumstances.

Your tasks in the Compliance Assistant, with filters by type.

Reading a task

Each task shows its due date where it has one, and labels that tell you more about it:

  • Legal obligation means it's something your company must do by law.
  • Blocks filing means FOUNDRS can't file for you until it's done. For example, we need your authentication code before we can file on your behalf.

Open a task to see what it involves and why it matters. Select Read the guide for a fuller explanation.

Reminders and deadlines

We'll email you reminders before things are due, using the email address you registered with FOUNDRS. How far ahead depends on the type of task. Some times of year are busier than others, but you'll never get more than one reminder email a day.

If you're not ready to deal with a task, you can Snooze it. This hides the task for 30 days. Snoozing doesn't change the deadline itself, so make sure you still have time to deal with it.

Filing through FOUNDRS

Some tasks can be filed directly from FOUNDRS. You can currently file your confirmation statement and change your registered office address. To file on your behalf, we need your Companies House authentication code. If you haven't added it yet, you'll see a task asking for it.

  1. Start your filing

Select File now on the task. Our AI agent opens and asks you questions in plain English, tailored to the filing, so you don't need to know the official form. Watch the short demo on the Compliance Assistant page to see how it works for a confirmation statement.

  2. Check the summary

Once you've answered everything, you'll see a summary. Check it carefully before you continue.

  3. Pay

You'll be taken to a secure payment page. A confirmation statement costs £50, the same as the Companies House filing fee. Once you've paid, we submit your filing to Companies House automatically.

A filing is complete only when Companies House has accepted it. When it has, the task is marked complete and a copy is saved in Documents automatically. If Companies House rejects your filing, we'll get in touch to explain why and help you put it right.

Completing a task yourself

Other tasks you deal with yourself, or with your accountant. Select Complete once it's done. This records it in FOUNDRS. It doesn't file anything with Companies House or HMRC.

FOUNDRS doesn't prepare statutory accounts or tax returns, and it doesn't replace professional legal, accounting or tax advice.

If you've done it elsewhere

If your accountant or someone else has already filed, mark the task as Complete. FOUNDRS checks the Companies House register daily and updates your tasks to match, so there may be a short delay before a filing made elsewhere shows as complete.
