Questions about company admin.
What company deadlines do I need to keep track of?
Most private limited companies need to file a confirmation statement and annual accounts with Companies House, and deal with Corporation Tax with HMRC. Other obligations, such as VAT, PAYE or reporting changes to directors, depend on your company's circumstances. FOUNDRS shows the deadlines that are relevant to your company.
What is a confirmation statement?
A confirmation statement confirms that the information Companies House holds about your company is up to date, including its directors, shareholders, People with Significant Control and registered office. Every company must file one at least once every 12 months, within 14 days of the end of its review period. FOUNDRS can file it for you.
When do limited companies file annual accounts?
A private limited company usually files annual accounts with Companies House within 9 months of the end of its financial year. A company's first accounts are usually due 21 months after the date it was incorporated. Your accounts are also used to prepare your Corporation Tax return for HMRC.
Can FOUNDRS file information with Companies House?
Yes. FOUNDRS is a Companies House Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP), so we can file supported changes on your behalf. You can currently file your confirmation statement and change your registered office address through FOUNDRS.
Can I change my company address through FOUNDRS?
Yes. You can update your company's registered office address in FOUNDRS and we'll file the change with Companies House. If you'd rather not use your home address, you can switch to the FOUNDRS London registered office.
Does FOUNDRS replace an accountant?
No. FOUNDRS helps you keep track of deadlines and handle supported Companies House administration. It doesn't prepare statutory accounts or tax returns, and it doesn't replace professional legal, accounting or tax advice. Many founders work with an accountant alongside FOUNDRS, and we can help you find one.
Can I use the Compliance Assistant if I didn't form my company with FOUNDRS?
Yes. You can link an existing limited company to your FOUNDRS account using its Companies House authentication code. FOUNDRS then uses your company's details to show what's relevant to you.
