Questions about company formation.
How much does it cost to form a limited company?
The Companies House fee for registering a private limited company online is £100. FOUNDRS doesn't charge an additional formation fee, so £100 is the total cost of forming your company with us. Optional services, such as a registered office and virtual mailbox, are priced separately.
How long does company formation take?
Most online applications are processed by Companies House within 24 hours of submission. Completing the application with FOUNDRS usually takes less time than that, as long as you have your details and identity verification ready.
Can I register a limited company myself?
Yes. You can apply directly to Companies House or use an Authorised Corporate Service Provider such as FOUNDRS. Using FOUNDRS, an AI incorporation agent guides you through each decision and checks your details before your application is submitted.
Do I need an accountant?
You don't need an accountant to form a limited company. Once your company is running, it will need to file annual accounts, a confirmation statement and Corporation Tax returns. Many founders choose to work with an accountant for these, and FOUNDRS can help you find one.
Can I use my home address as my registered office?
You can, but your registered office address appears on the public Companies House register. If you'd rather keep your home address private, you can use a registered office service such as the FOUNDRS London address and virtual mailbox.
Can I be the only director and shareholder?
Yes. A private limited company can have a single person acting as its only director and only shareholder. That person will also usually be the company's Person with Significant Control.
What happens after my company is registered?
Companies House issues your certificate of incorporation, and your company information and documents appear in your FOUNDRS account. From there, FOUNDRS helps you keep track of upcoming deadlines, store your company paperwork and find the services your business needs as it grows.
