How to form a company

Our incorporation agent guides you through forming a UK private limited company in plain English. It gathers everything Companies House needs in one place, so you don't have to work through forms or jargon yourself.

Form your company

A progress panel beside the conversation shows where you are. It has three stages: account creation, company information and identity verification. Each item is ticked off as you complete it.

  1. Create your account

Go to app.foundrs.ai/onboarding. Choose Form and start my new UK business, then select Continue.

Create your account with your email address and a password, then select Continue. Or select Continue with Google.

Choose Form and start my new UK business.
  2. Verify your email address

We'll send you an email with a verification link. Select the link, then return to FOUNDRS and continue. If the email hasn't arrived, check your spam folder or select Resend email. You'll need to verify your email before you can start talking to the agent.

  3. Add your company information

Answer the agent's questions in your own words. It turns your answers into the details Companies House needs and ticks off each one:

    • Company name
    • SIC code
    • Shares
    • Shareholders
    • Share capital
    • Shareholder roles

Not sure which SIC code fits, or how to split your shares? Ask the agent and it'll explain.

The progress panel ticks off each item as you go.
  4. Check your details

Before you pay, you'll see a summary of your application. Check everything carefully, especially names, addresses and share details. It's much easier to fix something now than after your company is registered.

  5. Pay

    Next, pay for your formation:

    • £100 incorporation fee.
    • £60 for a registered office address, if you choose to use ours. This is optional.
    • £9 for each other director or person with significant control (PSC) who needs to verify their identity.
  6. Verify your identity

After paying, verify your identity with Entrust, our identity verification provider. You may see the Onfido name on screen. See How identity verification works.

Once identity checks are complete, we submit your application to Companies House.

What happens next

While Companies House reviews your application, it shows as Submitted. Your company exists once Companies House has registered it and issued a certificate of incorporation.

We'll email you your certificate of incorporation, and you'll also find it in Documents. See Using your mailbox and company documents.

Troubleshooting

My application was rejected
